I’ve been pretty disenchanted with my work lately. I keep wanting to get a collection of images large enough and strong enough to put out a book, or pitch a book to a publisher, but every time I go back I find more and more I don’t like, or am not satisfied with, or want to try again.
It is a long and annoying process mostly because I know there is no way to be completely happy with what I have done. If as a photographer you are happy with all of your images you don’t get better, you get stagnant, boring, and redundant. Your work loses meaning, so I know its a good thing that I’m not happy.
But it also sucks, and not being happy with any of your work makes it pretty damn easy to slip into a rut where you just don’t feel like shooting. That is where I have been.
To get out of it I have mostly been going back and reworking older images. Finding ones that I like, but there is something just off about as far as editing has helped.
I’ll be back in full shooting form soon enough, I’ve been down this road quite a few times, and in the long run it only makes you a better more conscious photographer, so expect this to happen to you too if you at all care about the quality of your work.
So until then enjoy this new edit of one of my older images of Alysha, and one of these days I’ll get a damn series put together enough for a book.
If you enjoy this photo be sure to check out my website or print shop where you will find many more photographs a few of which are for sale.
